Commissioned art is a great way to add personalization to you home decor, commemorate that special animal, or give as a gift. Here you will find basic information about commissioning art with Megan Wimberley.
The Process
The first step is to fill out the form below. If you aren't sure about something or have questions I am happy to set up a consultation. After we agree on the size and subject I will send you contract. Please make sure you read through the contract and fill out necessary information. We have a contract once your contract is submitted and your deposit (plus cost of strong box for pieces 16"x20" or larger) is paid. I work on paintings on a first come first serve basis. When the painting is complete I will send you a final photo to make sure you are happy with the finished piece. You will pay your final 50% plus any applicable shipping costs, then your artwork will be ready for pick up or shipping.
Time Line
This can vary. I work on paintings on a first come first serve basis, starting when the contract and deposit are submitted. Generally speaking if you need a painting competed for an event (such as a birthday) it is best to contact me at least 3 months in advance, but it never hurts to send an email if there is less time. Each contract includes and estimated completion date. This date may not valid if you do not turn your contract in within 48 hours as someone else may complete a contract and their painting will be started first.
My Commitment and Style
Having a piece of art that was created just for you is very special. I promise to approach each project with integrity and care. My greatest desire is for you to love the final piece. It is important to remember that art is subjective and that I am unable to see what you see in your mind, so every commissioned piece is my interpretation of your vision. Please make sure you have viewed some of previous work and feel confident that you will be happy with my interpretation and style.
Pricing:
These are starting rates for pricing commissioned pieces. Once you decide on the size and subject I will be able to give you a specific price. The base price is calculated by square inch. I also take level of detail into consideration on the final price.
Single Subject - $1.35 per square inch
Single Subject with Tack - $1.50 per square inch
Animal with Person - $1.75 per square inch (not available in sizes smaller than 11x14; some restrictions apply)
For multiple animals and sizes larger than 48"x36" please contact me for a quote
Pick-up/Shipping
The collector will be charged for shipping if the painting is smaller than 16"x20".
Any painting sized 16"x20" or larger will require the purchase of a strong box for shipping. Strong boxes are specially designed to protect artwork in transit. The price of the strong box will be added to your first payment (I will cover shipping for your art when a strong box is required). If you ship your strong box back to me I will reimburse you for 40% of its cost (must be in like new condition for full 40%).
Sometimes pickup or delivery can be arranged. Please let me know if this is something you are interested in.
